Štěpánov (German Stiepanow , 1939–45 Stefanau ) is a district of the city of Skuteč in the Czech Republic . It is located two kilometers north of Skuteč and belongs to the Okres Chrudim .

geography

Štěpánov is located on the right side above the valley of the Anenský potok on a plateau in the Štěpánovská stupňovina ( Stiepanower stepland or seam mountains ). State road II / 305 between Skuteč and Luže runs through the village . To the southeast rises the Heráně (453 m nm), in the west of the Stračín ( Stratschin , 396 m nm).

Neighboring towns are Hroubovice , Bělá , Horní Radim and Zdislav in the north, Košumberk , Tišina, Janovičky and Doly in the northeast, Lhota u Skutče in the east, Zbožnov , Předhradí and Lažany in the southeast, Skuteč, Kolonie and Bílý Kopečnice in the south, Drážíčnice in the south South-west, Vrbatův Kostelec and Přibylov in the west and Nová Ves and U Svaté Anny in the north-west.

history

The first written mention of the village Štěpánov, which belongs to the Richenburg , took place in 1456.

The Na Vinice hill between Štěpánov and Zbožnov used to be planted with vines. Since the 19th century the pilgrimage chapel of St. Anna a small bath house.

In 1835, the rustic village of Stiepanow in the Chrudim district consisted of 39 houses in which 237 people lived. In the branch church of St. Matthew, services were held every 14 days. At the foot of the hill there was a stately hunter's house that used to be a pheasantry. The parish was Skutsch . Until the middle of the 19th century Stiepanow remained subordinate to the Richenburg rule.

After the abolition of patrimonial Štěpánov formed from 1849 with the districts Lhota and Zbožnov a municipality in the judicial district of Skuch . From 1868 the community belonged to the political district Hohenmauth . In 1869 Štěpánov had 254 inhabitants and consisted of 44 houses. Lhota broke up in the 1880s and formed its own community. In 1900 253 people lived in Štěpánov, in 1910 there were 314. In 1924 the road to Zbožnov was built. In 1930 the village had 331 inhabitants. On December 23, 1937, Zbožnov broke away from Štěpánov and became independent. In 1949 Štěpánov was assigned to the newly formed Okres Hlinsko, since 1961 the community has belonged to Okres Chrudim. In 1960 it was incorporated into Zbožnov, and since 1985 Štěpánov has been part of Skuteč. In the 2001 census, 170 people lived in the 71 houses in Štěpánov.

Attractions

  • Church of St. Matthäus, the former Gothic building was redesigned in Baroque style from 1785–1786. The church received a new gable and a mighty tower with a helmet roof. In 2014 it was declared a cultural monument.
