Sarnstall is a district and a district of the town of Annweiler am Trifels in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Südliche Weinstrasse .

location

The place is located two kilometers northwest of the core city on the northern edge of the Wasgau , as the southern part of the Palatinate Forest is also called together with the northern part of the Vosges , at the confluence of the Rimbach in the Queich .

history

It forms one of a total of four local districts of the city, but in contrast to the other three was never an independent municipality. Sarnstall was first mentioned in 1349.

politics

The Sarnstall district is a district of the town of Annweiler am Trifels and has its own local advisory board and a local councilor .

The local advisory council consists of six members who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Thomas Walter became mayor of Sarnstall in 2014. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in office for a further five years with a share of the vote of 87.78%.

Culture

Every year at Pentecost the traditional "Strauwekerwe" takes place. The ostrich is a pastry made from dough whose recipe only a few women in the village know and pass on from generation to generation.

Infrastructure

Sarnstall can be reached via federal road 10 ( Landau in der Pfalz - Pirmasens ) and has had its own train stop (Annweiler-Sarnstall) on the Landau – Rohrbach railway line since 2012 , which also connects to Landau and Pirmasens.

The Buchmann cardboard factory is a major employer in Sarnstall. It produces - mainly from recycled paper - folding box board as the starting material for packaging, especially for the consumer goods industry.
