Sasa Russadze
Saal (Sasa) Russadze ( Georgian ზაზა რუსაძე ; born May 24, 1977 in Tbilisi ) is a Georgian filmmaker. He lives in Tbilisi and Berlin .
education and profession
From 1989 to 1994 Russadze worked as a children's presenter for a youth magazine for Georgian television. In 1996 he was accepted as the youngest student at the Potsdam University of Film and Television "Konrad Wolf" (HFF). During his studies he worked, among other things, in the news section of the Deutsche Welle television program and as a translator at the Berlinale , the Dok Leipzig film festival and the Cottbus film festival (Russadse speaks Georgian, German, Russian and English).
In 2003 Russadze graduated from the HFF as a director with the documentary Bandits .
From 2006 to 2007 he studied in the postgraduate program Binger Filmlab at the Amsterdam School of Art , where he developed the concept for A Fold of my Blanket .
In 2007 Russadze founded the film production company Zazarfilm in Tbilisi.
In March 2010, he received a Nipkow film grant for Berlin to develop the script for his feature film debut A Fold of my Blanket , which he began filming in Georgia in summer 2011.
Russadze has worked on films by Nika Machaidze , Ineke Smits , Dito Tsintsadze , Otar Ioseliani and Julia Loktev , among others .
He is a member of the Georgian artist group Goslab .
