Sasha DiGiulian (born October 23, 1992 in Alexandria , Virginia ) is an American climber .

Career

Sasha DiGiulian started climbing at the age of 7. Since 2004 she has been taking part in regional and national competitions in sport climbing in the areas of lead , bouldering and speed climbing . In 2008 she was a member of the US bouldering team and the US adult team (lead). She was also US Junior PanAmerican and PanAmerican Champion in 2010 and World Cup finalist in 2011.

At the 2011 World Championships in Arco , Italy, she achieved second place in bouldering, 8th in lead and 52nd in speed climbing and was thus able to take first place in the overall world championship ranking, which is made up of the results of the three categories. In sport climbing your routes are red point up to difficulty "9a", onsight "8b +" and in bouldering red point "8a" and onsight "7c +".

In 2011 she celebrated her greatest success to date in rock climbing - the route "Pure Imagination" in Red River Gorge in Kentucky , which at that time was rated 9a. The route was later climbed onsight by Adam Ondra and downgraded to the “8c +” level of difficulty. On April 25, 2012, she was able to commit the route “Era Vella” in Margalef , Spain , making her the third, youngest and first North American woman in the world to climb the “9a” level of difficulty.
