Saskia Slegers (born June 21, 1962 in Eindhoven ), better known under her pseudonym Miss Djax , is a Dutch music producer and DJ specializing in techno , acid , Schranz and hip-hop . She runs the record label Djax Records (Djax-Up-Beats).

Life

In 1978 she had her first appearance in the Vox Club in Eindhoven ( Netherlands ). In her first years as a DJ, she only played hip-hop . Even then she called herself Miss Djax . Djax doesn't mean anything concrete, but X is Sleger's favorite letter and also reminds of wax (fashion term for vinyl ), trax and sex .

In 1990 she had her first gig abroad, at a party in France, followed by her international breakthrough in 1992 with her appearance at Mayday in Berlin . In 1993 she was named DJ of the year by the scene magazine Frontpage . She often made it into the top ten international DJs in various countries in votes and surveys . She has also played at major events such as the Love Parade , Mayday or Nature One .

Djax Records

In 1989 Slegers founded her own label Djax Records . The first release was an album by the Dutch hardcore rappers 24K. A few months later the sub-label Djax-Up-Beats was launched and a single was released by Terrace. In 1994 Djax Records was named the best international label by the scene magazine Frontpage . In 1997 Djax Records received the Dutch Silver Star for Best Record Label and in 1999 the De Veer award from the Dutch music industry. MTV Europe called Djax Records one of the most important labels of the 1990s. Felix da Housecat , Claude Young , Luke Slater , DJ Rush , Robert Armani and Steve Stoll have published on Djax-Up-Beats . After the peak in the 1990s, Djax Records rarely released records after the turn of the millennium, mainly Sleger's own productions.
