Sassoumbroum (also: Sassoumbouroum , Tsatsoumbroum ) is a rural community in the Magaria department in Niger .

geography

Sassoumbroum is located in the greater Sudan landscape and borders the neighboring state of Nigeria in the south and west . The neighboring communities in Niger are Dan-Barto , Kourni and Yaouri in the north and Kwaya and Yékoua in the east. The municipality is divided into 36 administrative villages, 34 traditional villages, 27 hamlets and 13 camps. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village of Sassoumbroum (also: Tsatsoumbroum). The Wadi Korama has its origin in the municipality .

history

Sassoumbroum developed into an economically important regional center in the 1920s. The rural community Sassoumbroum emerged as an administrative unit in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform from the western part of the canton of Magaria.

population

At the 2001 census, Sassoumbroum had 40,769 inhabitants. For 2010, 55,354 inhabitants were calculated. In Sassoumbroum mainly arable Hausa and Fulbe who specialize in agropastoralism live .

Economy and Infrastructure

The community is located in the narrow zone along the border with Nigeria, which extends from Tounouga in the west to Malawa in the east and is used in irrigation farming for cash crops .
