Sassullja ( Ukrainian Засулля ; Russian Засулье Sassulje ) is a village in the Ukrainian Poltava Oblast with 4500 inhabitants (2001).
Sassullja is located in Lubny district on the left bank of the Sula, on the opposite bank of which is the Lubny district center . The village is located on the M 03 trunk road and the P 42 regional road about 140 km northwest of the Poltava oblast center .
The village is the center of the district council of the same name , to which the village of Solonyzja , 4 km south, belongs.
history
South of Sassullja, the decisive battle of the Nalywajko uprising between Cossacks and Poles took place in 1596 with the Battle of Solonyzja , during which the hetman Hryhorij Loboda was murdered.
