Satish Kumar (* 4. May 1989 in India ) is an Indian amateur boxer in the super heavyweight .

Career

Satish Kumar is left wing arm and around 1.88 m tall. He became Indian champion in 2012 and finished fifth at the 2013 Asian Championships after losing to Ivan Dytschko in the quarter-finals . At the World Championships in 2013 he was eliminated without a fight against Dytschko in sixth place.

He also lost to Dytschko at the Asian Games in 2014 , but had reached the semi-finals and won a bronze medal. He repeated this success at the Asian Championships in 2015, this time after he was eliminated in the semi-finals against Wang Zhibao. He was thus also qualified for the 2015 World Championships, but lost to Ali Eren Demirezen in the round of 16 .

In the Asian Olympic qualification in March 2016 he was eliminated in the first fight against Mou Haipeng and in the worldwide qualification in June 2016 in the second fight against Dean Gardiner . In 2017 he took part in the Asian Championships and lost to Qamschybek Qongqabaev in the quarter-finals , but then defeated Mou Haipeng in the fight for the last starting place for the 2017 World Championships . There he was eliminated in the first fight against Məhəmmədrəsul Məcidov .

He achieved his greatest success at the Commonwealth Games 2018 , when he was only defeated in the final against Frazer Clarke and reached the silver medal. He won a bronze medal at the 2019 Asian Championships and started at the 2019 World Championships , where he was eliminated from Richard Torrez before reaching the medal ranks.
