Ivan Dytschko ( Kazakh : Дычко Иван Фёдорұлы; English transcription : Ivan Dychko; born August 11, 1990 in Rudny ) is a Kazakh professional heavyweight boxer .

Boxing career

Dytscko weighs around 102 kg at a height of 2.06 m. At national level he became Kazakh super heavyweight champion in 2009, 2010 and 2011 (+91 kg). At the 2008 World Youth Championships in Guadalajara , he won the silver medal in the heavyweight division. He prevailed against Milutin Stanković, Nick Kisner and Aurel Manole before losing to Erislandy Savón just 8:10 in the final . Then he boxed only in the super heavyweight division.

In 2010 he won the silver medal at the Asian Games in Guangzhou . He was defeated by the Chinese Zhang Zhilei 5: 7 in the final . At the 2011 World Championships in Baku he won again in the preliminary round against Milutin Stanković, now also defeated Zhang Zhilei in the second round and prevailed against the Croat Filip Hrgović in the quarterfinals . In the semifinals, however, he lost 9:16 against Məhəmmədrəsul Məcidov and got out of the World Cup with a bronze medal. This gave him a starting place at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London . There he won his first fight against the German Erik Pfeifer and moved into the quarterfinals, where he defeated the Canadian Simon Kean . He was thus in the semi-finals, but lost in the fight for a place in the final against Anthony Joshua with 11:13.

At the 2013 Asian Championships in Amman , Dytschko won the gold medal, defeating Satish Kumar , among others . He was then able to participate in the 2013 World Championships in Almaty and came, among others against Satish Kumar and Erik Pfeifer, to the final, where he was knocked out against Məhəmmədrəsul Məcidov and became vice world champion.

In 2014 he won the Asian Games in Incheon and in 2015 the Asian Championships in Bangkok . He defeated among others again Satish Kumar, as well as Bahodir Jalolov and Hussein Iashaish . At the 2015 World Championships in Doha , he was runner-up again when he reached the final with wins against Rafael Lima, Florian Schulz and Bahodir Jalolov, where he lost to Tony Yoka .

In April 2016 he won the Asian Olympic qualification in China by defeating Patrick Mailata, Hussein Iashaish and Bahodir Jalolov. He had thus qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . There he defeated Məhəmmədrəsul Məcidov and Efe Ajagba before he was eliminated in the semifinals against Joseph Joyce and won a bronze medal.

In total, he won 181 out of 199 fights as an amateur.

Professional career

In February 2017 he switched to the professional camp under the Australian promoter Mike Altamura and won his debut on September 29, 2017.
