Satoko Suetsuna ( Japanese 末 綱 聡 子 , Suetsuna Satoko ; born January 30, 1981 in Ōita , Ōita Prefecture ) is a badminton player from Japan .

Career

Suetsuna attended the Shōwa Girls' High School (today: Shōwa Gakuen High School) in Hita in Ōita Prefecture . At that time she won gold both at the badminton ( 高校 選 抜 , kōkō sembatsu ) and inter-high high school championships ( 高校 総 体 , kōkō sōtai ) in doubles with Miyo Akao in 1998, her first major title.

She plays for the factory stream of Renesas Semiconductor Kyūshū / Yamaguchi, a subsidiary of Renesas Electronics .

In her first World Cup participation in 2006, she failed in the women's doubles with regular partner Miyuki Maeda in round 2 to Nadieżda Kostiuczyk and Kamila Augustyn . Three years later they both made it to the quarterfinals, where they were defeated by Du Jing and Yu Yang from China. The quarter-finals were also the last stop at the China Open Super Series 2007 and the Malaysia Super Series 2008 . Both did better at the India Open 2008, where they won silver, and the US Open 2007, where they even won the tournament. At the 2008 Olympics, the Japanese pairing, often nicknamed "Suemae" for short, came fourth. In the bronze medal match, they lost to Chinese Zhang Yawen and Wei Yili with 17:21 and 10:21. In 2010 she won the Japanese championships in doubles with Miyuki Maeda.
