Satoru Shibata

Satoru Shibata ( Japanese 柴 田 聡 , Shibata Satoru ; born September 4, 1962 in Japan ) was President of Nintendo of Europe before Stephan Bole and is now on the board of Nintendo Co. Ltd. active in Japan.

Career

Shibata became President of Nintendo of Europe in August 2000 when his predecessor Shigeru Ota left Nintendo of Europe. He left Nintendo of Europe in July 2018 after 18 years working in Europe and then returned to Nintendo Japan. Shibata was also previously the former president of Nintendo Australia.

Shibata appeared at all of the presentations including the Nintendo Show, the Nintendo DS Event in Paris , the Nintendo Europe Wii Event in September 2006, the Nintendo 3DS European Press Conference in Amsterdam in January 2011 and Gamescom 2012 . He also advertised with all video games , including, among other things, interaction with celebrities , such as Wii Sports playing with Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski , and Call Me Maybe singing for the Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen .

In the years 2012-2018 Shibata moderated the European version of Nintendo Direct , and appeared at the side of Nintendo's former president, Satoru Iwata . Before the first European episode of Nintendo Direct aired, Shibata made little public appearances due to his shyness .
