Saul Rosolio

Saul Rosolio (born August 12, 1923 in Tel Aviv , † March 1992 ) was an Israeli ambassador .

Life

His parents were Dora Arlosoroff, a sister of Chaim Arlosoroff , and David Rosolio (* in Hamburg). From 1942 to 1946, Saul Rosolio was a member of the Hagana and the Jewish Settlement Police . In 1948 he joined the newly founded Mischteret Yisrael , where he was employed in various positions and quickly made a career . In 1961 he was appointed police commander in Jerusalem . Rosolio was Commander in Chief of the Israeli Police and Border Guards from 1972 to 1976 . After retiring from the police force, he became the Israeli ambassador to Mexico in 1977 . Rosolio was also accredited in El Salvador after the death of Ernesto Liebes in January 1979 . On December 11, 1979, a bomb attack was carried out on the Israeli embassy in San Salvador, whereupon it was closed. Saul Rosolio died of a myocardial infarction in 1992 .
