Saverio Costanzo (born September 28, 1975 in Rome ) is an Italian director and screenwriter .

Career

Costanzo is the son of the writer Maurizio Costanzo and the brother of the director and screenwriter Camilla Costanzo . He studied communication science and sociology at the University of Rome . After completing his studies in Brooklyn in 1998 with a thesis on Italian-Americans , he lived for a few years in New York , where he worked as a cameraman and documentary filmmaker .

He made his debut in 2004 with his film Private . His second feature film In memoria di me was presented at the 57th Berlin International Film Festival in 2007 . Together with Paolo Giordano , he wrote the screenplay for the film The Solitude of Prime Numbers , which began to be screened in 2009.

Saverio Costanzo won 17 awards, including the Golden Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival for his film Private, and was nominated for 26 other awards.
