Saxonia Bernsbach , also known as FC Saxonia Bernsbach , is a former German sports club from Bernsbach . It existed between 1910 and 1945 and the football department gained national attention through participating in the Central German championship twice .

history

The association was founded in 1910 under the name Saxonia Bernsbach . For the first time in the 1924/25 season , the team took part in the Gauliga Erzgebirge and managed to stay seventh. In the following season, the team from the Gauliga Erzgebirge rose. After being promoted back to the Gauliga Erzgebirge for the 1928/29 season , fourth place secured relegation. In the 1929/30 season they missed the championship in the Gauliga Erzgebirge behind FC Viktoria Lauter .

In the 1930/31 season , Saxonia Bernsbach almost secured the championship in the Erzgebirge relay and with two wins against VfB 1912 Geyer , the team secured their first participation in the Central German championship . There the team met 1. Vogtland FC Plauen and dropped out of the competition after a 1:10 defeat.

In the 1931/32 season , the Bernsbacher defended the championship in the Erzgebirge relay and prevailed with two victories in the Gau Erzgebirge final against DSC Weipert , thereby qualifying for the Central German championship . In the first round they met Dresdner SC and missed the next round due to a 1: 6 defeat.

After Saxonia Bernsbach only took third place in the Erzgebirge season in the 1932/33 season , they did not qualify for the newly introduced first-class Gauliga Sachsen and until 1945 the club did not achieve promotion into this league. In 1945 the association was dissolved.

Succession

After the association was dissolved in 1945, SG Bernsbach was re-established as an unofficial successor. SG Bernbach was merged into BSG Aufbau Aue-Bernsbach in 1951 through the entry of the Aufbau sports association and the local sponsoring company Bauunion Aue . The company sports association qualified for the 1958 FDGB Cup . After reunification , SV Saxonia Bernsbach was founded as the successor to BSG Aufbau Aue-Bernsbach . Since then, the team has played without exception in amateur football in the Ore Mountains.
