Federal Chess League 2002 (Switzerland)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the 2002 season of the Swiss Bundesliga in chess , three teams still had a chance of winning the title before the final round with the newly promoted Schachclub Niederrohrdorf , Basel BVB and ASK Winterthur . Niederrohrdorf and Basel were tied in terms of team points as well as board points, Winterthur followed one team point behind, but had the best yield of board points. Since all three teams won in the last round, the board points had to decide between Niederrohrdorf and Basel, and here Niederrohrdorf had a half point lead. The defending champion SV Wollishofen had to be content with sixth place. Since the Birsfelden / Beider Basel chess club withdrew its team after the previous season , Schwarz-Weiss Bern, a second club that had been promoted from the 2nd Bundesliga , had to be relegated immediately. For the reported team squads of the participating clubs, see the team squad of the Swiss 1st Bundesliga in chess 2002 .
