The Schafkopf is 2922 m above sea level. A. high mountain peaks in the Habach ridge of the Venediger group . It is located in the southwest of the Zell am See district ( State of Salzburg ) in the municipality of Hollersbach im Pinzgau . To the north of the Schafkopf lies the Larmkogel ( 3,017 m above sea level ), which is separated from the Schafkopf by the Larmkogelscharte ( 2,934 m above sea level ). In the south, the Seescharte ( 2799 m above sea level ) separates the Schafkopf from the Kratzenberg ( 3022 m above sea level ). To the east lies the Kratzenbergsee .
The Schafkopf is a long ridge of no alpine significance that can easily be climbed from the Larmkogelscharte. It was named by Franz Keil and represents the earliest summit of the Venediger group to be climbed. The Schafkopf was visited by hunters from Habach in the Hege of the former ibex colony in Larmkar around 1500 .
An alpine club hut , the Neue Thüringer Hütte , is located about 700 m below the summit.
