The Schafteich nature reserve is located in the Zwickau district in Saxony . It extends north of the core town of Limbach-Oberfrohna . The A 72 runs to the northeast of the area, the S 243 to the south and the S 242 to the west. The Pfarrbach , a tributary of the Frohnbach , flows through the pond that gives it its name .

The 30.8 hectare area with NSG no. C 84 was placed under nature protection on June 25, 1997.
