The Schamaldysai dam is located in Kyrgyzstan on the Naryn 5 km below the city of Tashkömür .
The Schamaldysai Dam was built between 1988 and 1996. In the area of the dam, the Naryn cuts through the mountains between the plateau of the Naryn lowlands in the east and the Fergana valley in the west. To the east is the Ferghana Mountains . The Utschkorgon Dam is located upstream and the Taschkömür Dam downstream . The city of Taschkömür is located on the western bank of the reservoir.
The dam has a height of 37 m. The storage volume is 41 million m³. The net volume is 5.5 million m³. The reservoir has a length of approx. 14 km. The hydropower plant has 3 turbines of 80 MW each, so that the total installed output is 240 MW. The annual output is 900 million kWh .
