Shengis Machmuduly Qassymbek ( Kazakh Жеңіс Махмұдұлы Қасымбек , Russian Женис Махмудулы Касымбек Shenis Machmuduly Kassymbek ; born May 7, 1975 in Tschu , Kazakh SSR politician ) is a Kazakh . The Akim (governor) of the Karagandy Territory has been in office since September 2019 .

Life

Qassymbek was 1975 in Chu born in the Oblast Djambul. He graduated from the Kazakh State Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering in Alma-Ata , where he received a degree in architecture in 1997 . In 2001 he graduated from the Eurasian National University with a further degree in economics with a focus on state and local government .

After completing his studies, Qassymbek first worked at the Academy for Architecture and Civil Engineering, from which he previously graduated. In 1998 he worked for Temirbank for several months before embarking on a career in government. From 1998 to 2000 he was department head of the Committee on Antimonopoly Policy of Kazakhstan and then until 2004 department head in the Ministry of Transport and Communication . Between 2004 and 2005 he headed the state company that operates the port of the city of Aktau . From November 4, 2005, he held the post of Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications. He held this post until March 11, 2009, after which he was Executive Secretary in the same ministry. From March 3, 2014 he became Minister of Transport and Communication in the cabinet of Kärim Mässimow ; he remained so until the dissolution of the ministry in August of the same year. He then held other posts in the Kazakh government. From August 2014 he was First Deputy Minister for Investment and Development, from June 21, 2016 Minister for Investment and Development and from December 26, 2018 Minister for Industry and Infrastructure Development. As of February 25, 2019 Qassymbek was then deputy prime minister in the Cabinet of Asqar Mamin .

Since September 19, 2019 he has been Akim (governor) of the Karagandy region .

family

Qassymbeks father is Machmud Qassymbekow (* 1952), also a politician and long-time head of the presidential administration of Nursultan Nazarbayev . His brother Ardaq Qassymbek (* 1977) is an economist and holds management positions in Kazakh state companies. Schengis Qassymbek himself is married and has four children.
