Schentait , also Schentajet or Schentajit , is an ancient Egyptian goddess in Egyptian mythology .
She was depicted as a lying cow or a cow-headed woman with a sun disk on her head. Instead of the sun disk, however, it can also wear the so-called or bat sign (bat fetish) on the head or around the neck. Due to their representation, Schentait could be considered Hathor and was also equated with Sachmet . Representations of the goddess can be found in the Osiris temple Seti II and the memorial temple Ramses II in Abydos as well as in the Amun temple in Hibis . The main place of cult of the Schentait was probably Busiris .
As Isis Shentaite, Schentait is closely linked to the Osiris myth . She is considered a helper in the resurrection or resurrection of Osiris. It is also identified with God's sarcophagus . Further connections between the goddess and Osiris can be found at the so-called Choiak festival and the Osiris bed, which had to be prepared so that the grain could sprout.
