The house at Scheuerleinsplatz 4

The house Scheuerleinsplatz 4 (formerly house number 169) is a listed building in Mainbernheim in Lower Franconia . The margravial box office Mainbernheim was housed in the house for centuries .

history

The house was probably built in the course of the town elevation of Mainbernheim, which was carried out in 1382. The authorities, at that time the Crown of Bohemia , needed a contact point in the young settlement and set up a house for their purposes. With the transition to the Margraviate of Brandenburg-Ansbach, the city received its own bailiff and the building was converted into a so-called caste office for the administration of the sovereign's taxes.

In addition, the premises also drew Fraischamt one. With the town elevation, Mainbernheim had also received the right to exercise blood jurisdiction. The Fraischamt monitored compliance with Fraischrechts in its catchment area. The change in use can also be seen in the building phases of the house. In the course of the 17th century the property was rebuilt in the Baroque style, as indicated by the roof construction.

Special decoration was attached to the front door. The door frame is drilled and fascinated and is surmounted by a triangular gable. The frieze, with a pedestal on which a pine cone can be found, was probably converted into a skylight in the 18th century .

The cellar is dominated by two vaults of different sizes. Both basement parts can be assigned to the outgoing Gothic. Enjoy the unique ground floor suggests even the former representative of use: It has two elongated vessels divided, which are connected by a houses. On the upper floor, which has a similar room layout, an old iron stove has been preserved, which with its decorations can be identified as an import from the Nassau hut in Löhnberg an der Lahn .
