The Schinderkapelle in Bad Reichenhall is a listed building and is registered in the Bavarian Monument List under the number D-1-72-114-174 .

The Schinderkapelle is located in Bad Reichenhall on Wittelsbacherstraße, at the entrance to houses 2a-c.

history

Establishment

The Schinderkapelle was built in 1749 in memory of the attacks by Pandours between 1742 and 1745.

restoration

In order to prevent the chapel from decaying, around 25,000 DM and many voluntary hours were invested in maintaining the chapel by members of the Association for Local History Bad Reichenhall and Surroundings eV at the end of the 1980s . In the course of the restoration, a fresco from 1749 was uncovered; the picture with the handkerchief dates from around 1800.

In 2005, the association launched another call for donations in order to carry out the necessary renovation measures on the building. The masonry was drained, the roof structure renewed and the roof covered with new smile shingles. In addition to a large number of donations, the landowners and the association for local customers contributed to the costs of the renovation. The measures were completed in 2008.

description

The Schinderkapelle has an unusual, heptagonal floor plan. The curved tent roof sits on a white plastered wall, is covered with larch shingles and crowned with a golden cross. The arched portal is closed with a large iron grille.
