Location sketch

The Finsterbach is a mountain stream on the Gerlitzen in Carinthia. The Finsterbach Falls or Sattendorfer Waterfalls , a series of three waterfalls near its confluence with Lake Ossiach , make it interesting for hikers .

In the direction of the flow the falls are called:

  • Schleierfall (34 m)
  • Kesselfall (21 m)
  • Finsterbach Falls (23 m)

In May 2014, Bernhard Pitka launched the Finsterbach mountain brook trout project . The Finsterbach was stocked with brown trout saplings with the aim of sustainable management through fishing, taking into account nature conservation. The Finsterbach has a very good food supply of river flea shrimp , which are very important for the seedlings.
