The former Štítina Castle (German Castle Stettin ) was located in Štítina in Moravian Silesia , Czech Republic . It was about eight kilometers southeast of the city of Opava .
history
The place Štítina was mentioned for the first time in 1282 under the name Troubky at that time. It was owned by the brothers Wok and Jaroslaw von Stetten (ze Štítina), whose descendants Troubky owned until 1370.
The Štítina fortress was first mentioned together with the Troubky settlement in 1377 when the Duchy of Opava was divided . In 1432 the fortress was owned by Hartel Tunkl , who sold it to Čěňek von Tworkau in the same year . From 1582 to 1599, under Nikolaus Tworkau, the fortress was rebuilt into a four-wing castle in the Renaissance style , which was surrounded by a moat. Other owners were Messrs. Mosch von Moritsch, von Bock and the Chorynský von Ledska. The latter had the moat filled in after 1785 and set up a stately brewery in the castle. In 1837 Ernst Otto Czeike von Badenfeld sold Štítina / Stetten to the Teutonic Order . He used the castle as an administrative and farm building for the manor of the same name, to which Hrabyně belonged. After the Second World War, the castle was abandoned and demolished in 1988. Only part of the moat and the castle pond are preserved.
