Abbans-Dessus Castle
The Castle Abbans-Dessus is located in Abbans-Dessus , a municipality in the French department of Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It was built from the 12th century and has been protected as a monument ( Monument historique ) since 1992 .
history
Abbans-Dessus had been the center of a rule that belonged to the Jouffroy family since the 11th century. Together with Franche-Comté, the place came to France through the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678.
architecture
A castle from that time was first mentioned in a document in 1092. One of the oldest parts is the square Romanesque keep from the 13th century. Two other towers date from the 14th century. The residential buildings were renewed in the 18th century. On the north side a stone bridge leads to the castle entrance.
