history

Dieban Castle from the Duncker Collection

In the village there was a fortified hunting seat in the Glogauisch-Ducal possession around 1250 . In 1287, Duke Heinrich III sold the possession of Otto von Zedlitz . The estate later came to the Lords of Talkenberg auf Welkersdorf . In the 1480s, the hunting lodge was razed . It was last mentioned in 1508.

From 1558–1566 a contemporary permanent house was built with an L-shaped floor plan, which was later expanded into a three-wing complex. The east wing was added around 1700. From 1860 to 1881 the castle was redesigned in the neo-renaissance style.

After the war ended in 1945, the region fell to Poland. Subsequently, the castle was looted in 1945 and the interior and its collections were stolen or destroyed. After the nationalization, it was initially used as a residential building for PGR workers. After 1998 the castle ruins were privately owned, but continued to deteriorate.

The main portal that has been preserved shows the coats of arms of von Kanitz , von Niebelschütz , von Glaubitz and von Kreckwitz.
