Karl Wolf (full name Karl Heinrich Diedrich Wolf ; * in the 18th or 19th century ; † June 13, 1889 in Hanover ) was a German Privy Councilor , graphic artist and humorous caricaturist .

Life

Karl Wolf was the son of a mayor working in Springe am Deister . After studying law , he was appointed court hunting advisor at the time of the Kingdom of Hanover and worked as court secretary at the Oberhofmarschallamt and as an advisor to the royal administration of state domains and forests. If the Hanover address book recorded the hunting and court secretary Wolf still residing at Herschelstrasse 2 for 1865, he was soon awarded the Guelph Order of Fourth Class and moved to the neighboring house at Herschelstrasse 3.

After the battle of Langensalza and the annexation of the Kingdom of Hanover by Prussia , he became a consultant in the now Prussian Department of Finance from 1866. In 1868 he moved to the finance department.

At Christmas , “Hof-Jagdrath Dr. jur. Wolf "with a certificate dated December 24, 1868 and the signatures of the managing director Heinrich Friedrich Brehmer ," Fr. Busse ”, Eduard Heldberg , Edmund Koken and Hermann Rautenberg accepted as members of the Hanover Art Association. The certificate, designed by Justus Molthan around 1865 and published as a lithograph by “R. Steinbock ”, later found its way to the Hannover Historical Museum and a copy to the Hannover Archive .

In 1885, Wolf changed to the royal government as a consultant before retiring in 1887. In addition to his professional activities, Karl Wolf made a name for himself as a humorous draftsman for various illustrated sheets.
