The Ebergassing Castle stands as a former moated castle in the east of the municipality Ebergassing in District Bruck an der Leitha in Lower Austria . The castle is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

A castle was mentioned in a document in 1120 . In 1430/1455 the castle belonged to the Lords of Wald , who rebuilt the chapel . In a document, the castle belonged to the Thanrädl (Thonradl) in 1540/1620 , who carried out a renovation. After the expropriation of the Protestant Thonradl family, the castle went to Prince Liechtenstein with two baroque expansion phases around 1720 and 1760. From 1788 to 1811 the castle was owned by the noble von Trattner ( Thomas von Trattner ), and subsequently belonged to several owners. Since 1998 it has been owned by two Austrian families of noble origin.

The castle, which is essentially medieval , was rebuilt in the late 16th century and expanded in the 18th century. A restoration took place from 1998 to 2001.

The former moated castle with a former park and a former pheasant garden was surrounded by a moat , which was fed by the Fischa . The access is via a brick bridge flanked by baroque pedestals .

The irregular four-sided castle building with three-storey tracts form a trapezoidal courtyard. The main front is directed to the southeast with a setback, in which the choir of the castle chapel protrudes to the northeast .
