The Geretsdorf castle was located in the same district of the municipality Burgkirchen in District Braunau .

history

Geretsdorf Castle was documented as "Gehartsdorf" in the 13th century and, with its Hofmark , belonged to the Mauerkirchen nursing court as a Passau property . The Grans (Granse) von Uttendorf , which died out in the male line in 1498, also owned the rule of Geretsdorf in the 14th and 15th centuries , which in 1481 went to the Bavarian dukes. In 1562 Geretsdorf was owned by Duke Albrecht of Bavaria . He gave it away to his secretary Georg Prandstetter because of his loyal service and gave Geretsdorf the privileges of a noble seat. Seventy years later, the Prandstetter's son (also with the first name Georg) was stripped of the estate by the district judge of Mauerkirchen, Hans Christoph Westaher, because of a monetary debt and on February 25, 1622 his creditor Georg Lindauer was handed over to his creditor. The next owners were the Wochner (Wuchner). In 1674, Bartholomäus Strockenreif bought Geretsdorf Castle and the Kollerberg estate from the Wuchner heirs. In 1700 Johann Christoff Ströckenroiff von Geretsdorf had the castle and the Kollerberg estate rebuilt. In 1727 the Freiherren von Freiberg are named as owners, in 1779 it came into the possession of the Baroness von Rosenbusch. In 1812 Franz Xaver Freiherr von Lerchenfeld acquired the property. The last three families were also owners of Spitzenberg Castle . In 1829 Phillipp Freiherr von Venningen, already owner of Aspach Castle , bought Spitzenberg Castle. In 1830, Geretsdorf Castle was combined with Aspach Castle.

The former palace building was in a loop of the Mattig . Geretsdorf was not a castle in the true sense of the word, but a somewhat defensive residence . In the last 200 years, the watch towers and the roof turrets that can still be seen on Michael Wening's engraving have disappeared . What was left was a simple two-story building with a crooked roof . The moat was filled in in 1930 when the river was regulated. The castle building was last used as an inn.

After frequent changes of ownership, Waldemar Bauer from Franking acquired the residence at an auction on September 3, 1981. After a fire on September 29, 1983, it was completely demolished in the 1990s. In its place there is now a meadow with a weekend house, under which the cellars of the castle are supposed to be located.
