Le Barroux Castle
The Le Barroux Castle is a former medieval castle in the French commune of Le Barroux . It has been inscribed as a Monument historique since 1920 .

The castle is located in the center of Le Barroux on a rocky promontory between the western foothills of Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail .
history
The castle of the Lords of Les Baux was built in the 12th century and converted into a Renaissance castle in the 16th century . In 1563 it was given to the Protestants during the Huguenot Wars .
In 1929 the ruinous castle was bought and restored by a private person, but in 1944 it was set on fire by German troops and then destroyed again. The second restoration has now been completed.

The Renaissance-style castle still contains medieval elements and a chapel , which is decorated with wall paintings from the 18th century.
