Manětín Castle

The Manětín Castle is located in the town of Manětín (German Manetin ) in West Bohemia ( Okres Plzeň-sever ) in the Czech Republic .

Manětín was first mentioned in writing in 1169, when King Vladislav II dedicated it to the Order of St. John in Prague . During the rule of the Hrobčický von Hrobčice family , at the end of the 16th century, Jerome the Younger Hrobschitzky von Hrobschitz built the Renaissance chateau in the city center . After a fire in 1712, the then owners, the Lažanský family, had a new castle built with an elongated L-shaped floor plan.
