Pécauld Castle
The Pécauld Castle ( French Château Pécauld ) in Arbois , a town in the French department of Jura in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comte , was built in the 16th century. The castle has been a protected architectural monument ( Monument historique ) since 1988 .
history
In the 13th century, the previous building with the Velfaux tower (French Tour Velfaux ) was integrated into the city fortifications . At the beginning of the 16th century, Guillaume de Velfaux sold the building to Nicolas Perrenot de Granvelle , who had a new building built while retaining the tower. The chateau later became the property of the Pécauld family. The town of Arbois has owned the castle since 1829, which after its renovation in 1993 now houses a wine museum and the Comité interprofessionnel des vins du Jura .
