Sainte-Barbe Castle in Ambès

The Castle Sainte-Barbe in Ambès , a French town in the Gironde department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine , was built in the 1760s. In 1996 the castle was added to the list of architectural monuments in France as a monument historique .

The castle was built for a wealthy citizen from Bordeaux on the Garonne . At the end of the 19th century the interior of the single-storey building was refurbished and the outbuildings were enlarged.

The entrance to the main courtyard (cour d'honneur) was provided with an iron grille, whereby the gardener's two small pavilions from the 18th century have been preserved.

The main building is structured by pilasters and the portal is decorated with a triangular pediment .

The kitchen and pantries are located in the vaulted cellar.
