Stadlhof Palace is a building in the village of Pflugern in the municipality of Sankt Veit an der Glan in Carinthia .

history

Stadlhof was, as the name suggests, originally an estate. The castle is one of a number of structures that were built around the new state capital Klagenfurt from the 16th century onwards. The property was first mentioned in a document in 1599, when the Carinthian Hereditary Land Grand Master Sigmund von Keutschach auf Tannenberg acquired the property. After the owner's death in 1607, the governor pawned Stadlhof to Adam zu Ratzenegg and Hallegg , followed as the owner by the landscape secretary Johann Weber von und zu Ehrental and the revenue clerk at Pontafel. In the 18th century, Erasmus Seyfried Kreiner from Spiritushof followed numerous changes of ownership. In 1798 the small castle belonged to the Sankt Veiter iron merchant Johann Matthäus Freiherr von Koller, in 1846 Gustav Graf von Egger . Then the owner changed almost every year. It was taken over by Viktor Friedrich Ernst von Schönburg-Waldenburg in 1896, and in 1923 by Oskar Schneditz and Anna Gartner. From 1953 on, Stadlhof was owned by the Dreihann-Holenia family, in 1975 Elisabeth Fräss-Ehrfeld took over. Further owners were Martin Auer from Graz and the state of Carinthia. In 2009, the entrepreneur Hermann Fleischhacker bought the property, which was already in danger of falling into disrepair, and completed the restoration work that had begun in the 1990s.

The extension to today's appearance took place in the years 1772 to 1780, probably according to plans by Johann Georg Hagenauer , when the two recessed side wings were added to the main building and a new facade was made.

description

Stadlhof is located near the Rotte Pflugern south of St. Donat on a slope terrace above the Klagenfurt expressway (S37), which connects Sankt Veit with the state capital.

The castle is a 7- and 3-axis system with two recessed single-axis side wings and a remarkable late baroque west facade. In the middle of the front side is the portal, which with its crowning volutes pierces the strongly cranked cornice between the ground floor and first floor and protrudes into the upper floor. The facade is crowned by a broad, curved ornamental gable extending over three axes . There is a round pavilion in front of the portal. The windows on the ground floor are barred, those on the upper floor have frames with segmented and arched gables. The structure of the pilasters on the main floor above the cordon cornice effectively accentuates the elongated facade. The building is covered with a hipped roof.

The entrance hall is decorated with baroque tendril stucco, which was added in 1909. In a festive room on the first floor there are wallpaper-like oil paintings, vedute , including a city view of Klagenfurt. They were added around 1775. The ceilings of the rooms are decorated with rococo paintings, which were restored in 2012 by the restorer Walter Antowitzer from Döbriach. The floors of the rooms are furnished with lavishly woven panel parquet from the 18th century made of walnut, maple and oak.
