Unterach Castle after an engraving by Georg Matthäus Vischer from 1674

The Unterach Manor (formerly Untrach called) is located in the town of Unterach in District Vöcklabruck of Upper Austria (Unterach 77).

history

The fishing rights at the Attersee, whose tenure was until the earlier modern times unclear, were immemorial part of the then Austro -landesfürstlichen domination chamber , and its still the Archbishopric, then Archbishopric of Salzburg associated Archdiocese of Bamberg exercised. Part of the fishing rights were exercised on site by the Fischmeister zu Unterach family and today's Burgau , the other part by the Lasser family from Lasseregg zu Unterach and today's Burgbachau . In 1423 a "Hainrich the Vischmaister sat in Unterach" is called. A Gilg Vischmeister (fish master) lived in the middle of the 15th century at Kogl Castle , a Bamberg fiefdom ; In 1477 a Hieronymus Vischmeister is named, who was also the caretaker at Kogl Castle. Unterach was part of the Bamberg reign of Kogl for a long time.

At the end of the 17th century the building was converted into a brewery . The owners are: Georg Roiter (1738–1739), Count Franz Christoff Khevenhüller , Andreas Pausinger , the Kogler family (until 1869), Gottlieb Kiener (until 1889) and then Karl Derfler (until 1915). Florian Dickbauer, Olga Walenta and Ms. Hell followed.

Unterach Castle today

On the engraving by Georg Matthäus Vischer from 1674, the castle is provided with four pointed turrets and a high hipped roof. The former castle was converted into a residential building by Karl Derfler around 1900.

There is a picture of this castle that Gustav Klimt painted.
