The Schmarler Bach is an approximately 8 km long brook in the Hanseatic city of Rostock .
The brook rises in the mill pond in the Rostock district of Evershagen , flows from there first in a west-northwest direction, then bends again to the east and flows along the southern border of the district of Lütten Klein , crosses under the city motorway, flows in a north-northeast direction along the northwest border of the eponymous district of Schmarl , north of the IGA site and finally flows east into the Unterwarnow . The Schmarler Bach is mostly a sand (and clay) shaped lowland brook ; only the mouth area corresponds to the water type of the backwater or brackish water- influenced Baltic Sea inflow .
