The snow-white hair cup ( Dasyscyphella nivea , formerly Dasyscyphus niveus ) is a species of fungus from the Hyaloscyphaceae family .

description

The fruiting body is flat, disc-shaped to almost bowl-shaped and clearly stalked. The outside looks felty and woolly due to the hair. The diameter is 1 to 2 millimeters. He is completely white. The spores measure 6 to 8.5 by 1.5 to 2 micrometers. The asci measure 35 to 50 × 5 to 5.5 micrometers and are cylindrical-club-shaped. The paraphyses are usually cylindrical with a rounded tip that is slightly longer than the asci. Septa are only present in the lower area. The hair is septate and finely grained. At its tip there is a bald, club-like widened end link.

ecology

The species grows saprobion table on rotten, damp dead wood of deciduous trees, especially on oaks , more rarely on beeches , preferably in cavities or on buried pieces of wood. It can be found all year round and is common.
