The Schneider writing instruments GmbH is a manufacturer of writing instruments with headquarters in Schramberg - Tennenbronn . The company has around 500 employees in three locations in Germany (Schramberg-Tennenbronn, Wernigerode and Weilheim ).
history
The family company , founded in 1938 , initially produced screws and turned parts .
After the end of World War II turned Schneider for the drop in sales its production on pens - mines around after the management of the fledgling writer pens heard. Schneider was one of the first ballpoint pen refill manufacturers in the world and played a key role in the introduction of the DIN 16554 standard in 1958 to create industry-standard dimensions for ballpoint pen refills. Schneider became the market leader and the company's advertising slogan "Die Gute Schneider Mine" was well known.
Since 1957 Schneider has not only produced refills, but also ballpoint pens, and other writing implements were added later .
In 1991 the company acquired the fountain pen manufacturer VEB Heiko in Wernigerode.

Today Schneider produces ballpoint pens, fountain pens , highlighters , rollerball pens , other markers , refills and ink cartridges . The production takes place exclusively in Germany.
Schneider attaches particular importance to environmental protection and, according to its own statements, has been certified as the only company in the industry since 1998 according to the environmental management system according to the EC-ÖKO-Audit-Ordinance EMAS .
