The Schoening Peak is a 4743 m high, steep and rocky mountain peak in the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . It rises on the eastern edge of the summit plateau of the Vinson massif 2.9 km east of Mount Vinson in the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 2006 after the American mountaineer Pete Schoening (1936-2004), participant of the American Antarctic Mountaineering Expedition (1966-1967), in which the first ascent of the Vinson massif and other high mountains of the Sentinel Range succeeded.
