The Schollaert Channel ( French Chenal de Schollaert ) is a strait in the northeast of the Palmer Archipelago west of the Antarctic Peninsula . Between the Brabant Island in the northeast and the Anvers Island in the southwest, the canal connects Dallmann Bay in the northwest with the Gerlache Strait in the southeast.
This waterway was discovered during the Belgica expedition (1897–1899) led by the Belgian polar explorer Adrien de Gerlache de Gomery . He named the canal after Frans Schollaert (1851-1917), Prime Minister of Belgium from 1908 to 1911.
