School Rumble ( Japaneseス ク ー ル ラ ン ブ ルSukūru Ramburu ) is a manga series by the Japanese artist Jin Kobayashi , which was also implemented as an anime series.

School Rumble is about the heart-pain affairs of Japanese students. The focus is on the lively Tenma Tsukamoto.
Characters
- Tenma Tsukamoto
- The 16-year-old girl, who is only 154 cm tall but extremely lively, is madly in love with Ohji Karasuma, but takes flight as soon as he appears near her. However, when she learns that he is about to move to America a year later, she tries to confess her love to him, and she goes from one faux pas to the other.
- Ohji Karasuma
- Tenma's crush. However, he has no idea of this and is not particularly interested in her at first. In the further course, however, there are scenes that suggest that he may have feelings for her after all.
- Kenji Harima
- The boy who always wears sunglasses is a vicious thug and outsider who has fallen head over heels in love with Tenma. Although she takes no notice of him, he tries everything to explain his love to her. Due to unfortunate circumstances, however, he repeatedly gets into precarious situations, which is why Tenma considers him a lecher. Kenji is very adept at dealing with animals and has a talent as a manga artist, where he mostly implements his daydreams. - Yakumo Tsukamoto
- Yakumo is Tenma's younger sister, but appears older because of her size and level-headedness. Yakumo can read the minds of people who like her, which is useful to her with intrusive admirers. Only Kenji Harima's thoughts cannot be read because he is not in love with her. Nevertheless, a special relationship develops between the two of them as she helps him with his manga.

- The very pretty girl is the daughter of an Englishman and a Japanese woman and belongs to the upper class. Due to a misunderstanding, she believes that Kenji Harima is in love with her. At first she rejects him, but then slowly begins to harbor feelings for him, even if she doesn't want to admit it to herself. When the rumor emerges that Kenji and Yakumo are a couple, she becomes jealous.
- Mikoto Suou
- The self-confident girl with the large bust has been friends with Hanai since childhood, they are also members of the same Shōrinji-Kempō club. At first she is in love with her tutor, but gives up this love. For a short time, she was with her classmate Asou.
- Akira Takano
- The short-haired, sporty girl is a very good student and likes to put on animal costumes. She attaches great importance to perseverance and earns her living as a secret agent.
- Itoko Osakabe
- Itoko is Tenma's teacher and at the same time cousin of Kenji, who lives with her. Manga
School Rumble was published from October 22, 2002 (issue 47/2002) to July 23, 2008 (issue 34/2008) in individual chapters in the manga magazine Shōnen Magazine of the Kodansha publishing house. In addition, from January 20, 2003 (February 2003 edition) to April 20, 2008 (May 2008 edition), further special chapters with subplots appeared in the magazine Magazine Special of the same publisher. All individual chapters have been summarized in 22 anthologies ( Tankōbon ). From August 20, 2008 (September 2008 edition) to May 20, 2009 (June 2009 edition), the sequel School Rumble Z appeared in Magazine Special , the chapters of which were summarized in an anthology on June 17, 2009.
Published in German by School Rumble 18 volumes from November 2005 to February 2009 at Tokyopop . The publication was finally discontinued in 2009, as the Japanese publisher ended its cooperation with Tokyopop. The manga was continued by Egmont Manga and Anime from December 2009 to September 2010 and published in full up to volume 22.
Anime
Studio Comet produced a 26-part anime series for the manga, which was broadcast from October 5, 2004 to March 29, 2005 on the Japanese television station TV Tokyo . On December 22, 2005, the two-part OVA School Rumble OVA: Ichigakki Hoshū ( ス ク ー ル ラ ン ブ ル OVA 一 学期 補習 , German "School Rumble OVA: tutoring in the 1st trimester)" was published. From April 2, 2006 to September 24, 2006 TV Tokyo ran the 26-part series School Rumble: Nigakki ( ス ク ー ル ラ ン ブ ル 二 学期 , German "School Rumble: 2nd trimester"). On July 17, 2008, the first part of the OVA School Rumble: Sangakki ( ス ク ー ル ラ ン ブ ル 三 学期 , German "School Rumble: 3rd trimester") was released. Up to episode 16, with the exception of episode 13, Kono Namida ga Aru Kara Tsugi no Ippo to Naru ( こ の 涙 が あ る か ら 次 の 一 歩 と な る , German: "Because of this tear, the next step") was used as the credits song by Ami Tokito, for episode 13 the instrumental piece The Last Candle and from episode 17 Futari wa Wasurechau ( 二人 は 忘 れ ち ゃ う , German "We both forgot") by the Tsukamoto Shimai ( 塚 本 姉妹 , German "Tsukamoto sisters"), d. Background information
"Tenma" and "Tsukamoto" (nickname and family name of the main character) are the names of train stations near Osaka .
The chapters published in Shōnen Magazine are preceded by the musical symbol "♯" (cross), and the chapters in Magazine Special are preceded by the symbol "♭" (b).
