Schoppen is a village in the municipality of Amel in the German-speaking Community of Belgium . The district is four kilometers north of the Ameler core town. With 397 inhabitants (January 2013) Schoppen is one of the larger districts of the municipality of Amel. It has a commercial zone on the western outskirts.
Schoppen is the birthplace of Karl-Heinz Lambertz , who was Prime Minister of the German-speaking Community from 1999 to 2014.
