Trbovlje chimney

The chimney of Trbovlje ( Slovenian : Trboveljski dimnik ) near Trbovlje (German: Trifail ), Slovenia is the highest chimney in Europe with a height of 360 meters .

It was built in 1976 as part of the coal-fired thermal power station Termoelectrarna Trbovlje (TET) on the Sava near Trbovlje in order to keep air pollution in Trbovlje and the neighboring regions low. The Trbovlje chimney was used to better distribute the exhaust gases. The chimney was built by the Düsseldorf company Karrena.

The power plant was closed at the end of 2014. Since then, the chimney has been the target of illegal climbing activities.
