School on Brinkmannstrasse

The school at the Brinkmann Street is located in Bremen , district Hemelingen , district Hemelingen at the Brinkmann Road 40 and Hemelinger highway . The building was built in 1909 based on plans by Reinhard Ahlemann and was rebuilt in 1931 based on a design by Otto Conrad Friedrich Bräutigam. It has been a listed building in Bremen since 1995 .

history

In 1876 the first Protestant school was built on Glockenstrasse and in 1889 it was enlarged for around 660 students in 11 classes. The independent community of Hemelingen grew from 2275 to 1905 to 7214 inhabitants and needed another school.

The two-storey II. Protestant primary school in 1909 with a mansard roof , the roof turret and several risalits in a neo-baroque façade, located between Brinkmann road Hemelinger highway, road and evil ruffled street, had seven classes for 400 students.

The four-storey renovation and expansion of the now municipal school with a new, white facade, the clock tower (not preserved) and a flat roof in the Bauhaus style of the 1920s based on plans by Bräutigam dates back to 1931. The building was badly damaged by bombs in 1942 and again in 1943 prepared but documented by the Wehrmacht until 1945 . Some of the students were on the Kinderlandverschickung .

From September / October 1945, classes were held again for the primary school and upper school students. The demolition of the building failed in 1995 because of the protest of the citizens. In 1997/98 the house was renovated. Inclusive lessons have been taking place since 2011/2012.

In 2018, the one to two-class elementary school had 115 pupils and 41 employees, 18 of whom are teaching staff. The school is u. a. Partner school of Werder Bremen , the community center Hemelingen and the Universum Bremen .
