history

School on Brinkmannstrasse

Surname

The Hemelinger Heerstraße was named after the village of Hemelingen. The eponymous family Hemelo - later Hemelingen or Hemelyngh  - is said to have had their seat in Hemelingen in the Middle Ages . In Bremen and Umzu, many military roads were built after 1800 or roads were named as military roads (see Bremen streets ). From Verden there is also a country road u. a. via Mahndorfer-, Arberger-, Hemelinger- and Hastedter Heerstraße to Bremen.

development

Hemelingen was a Hanoverian and, since 1866, Prussian municipality and was incorporated into the city of Bremen in 1939 and a district in 1951. Until 1945 there were only a few farmhouses and houses on the road. The Seekamp inn at the beginning of the street has been in the family since 1871. The school on Brinkmannstrasse was built in 1909 as an initially two-storey building. After 1950, single and multi-family houses were built. The farmhouse No. 111 is a last reminder of the rural location. The SV Hemelingen built a tennis court and the city on the other side of the road Bezirkssportanlage Hemelingen.
