Eitze is a district in the south-east of the city of Verden (Aller) in Lower Saxony , about 40 km south-east of Bremen . Eitze has about 1500 inhabitants.

Eitze is located southeast of downtown Verden, immediately north of the Aller . The Gohbach , which flows through the Eitze from a north-easterly direction, also flows here. In the north of Eitze is the Verden district of Borstel (Verden) , in the northeast of the Flecken Weitzmühlen and in the southeast of the town of Luttum . In the south and west lies the Aller, which can only be crossed in the western direction in the city center of Verden.

Eitze was first mentioned in 860 together with a number of other places in the region between the Ems and Elbe in a record by Archbishop Ansgar about miraculous healings at Willehad's grave . Therefore Eitze celebrated on 14./15. August 2010 a 1150-year anniversary weekend organized by the local history association at the oldest mill in the Verden district (at Gohbach). Some old buildings also bear witness to the ancient history. The Eitzer Mill, which still exists today, is mentioned in a document as early as 1220. There is also a granary built in 1721. In the street "Am Gohbach" there was the Eitzer coffee agent factory.

On July 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality of Eitze was incorporated into the city of Verden.

Old watermill
  • The Eitzer watermill was first mentioned in 1220. A Meierbrief from 1555 refers to the (Wittboldt-) Müller family who exercised the miller's trade here for over 400 years. The commercial enterprise Eitzer Mühle existed until June 30, 1968. A half-timbered storage facility built in 1721 on yard 6 "Carstens" was renovated in the early 1990s to make it suitable for historical monuments.
