Walle is a district of the city of Verden (Aller) in Lower Saxony with about 1600 inhabitants.

history

Serious accidents repeatedly occurred along the American line in the Walle district. On December 14, 1934, in the area of ​​a now defunct level crossing - today there is a flyover of the B 215 over the railway line - a bus collided with Adolf Hitler's train , which resulted in several deaths. After a short stop in Kirchlinteln, the so-called “Führerzug” continued its journey.

In February 1945 there was a heavy bomb attack on a refugee train, also with several deaths.

As a result of the municipal reform in Lower Saxony on July 1, 1972, the municipality of Walle was incorporated into the city of Verden.

Economy and Infrastructure

There is a primary school and a kindergarten in Walle. In addition, there is a golf course and a tennis and squash hall in the village.

North of Walle at 52 ° 59 ′ 53 ″  N , 9 ° 16 ′ 13 ″  E is a 134 meter high telecommunications tower ( type tower FMT 2/73) made by Deutsche Telekom AG made of reinforced concrete. It is similar to the Wahnbek telecommunications tower .
