Luttum is a Lower Saxon village in the district of Verden with 1222 inhabitants . It belongs to the municipality of Kirchlinteln and is located in the Kleinbahnwinkel .

geography

The village is characterized by its proximity to the district town of Verden (Aller) . Within the municipality of Kirchlinteln, Luttum assumes a central function for the southern part of the municipality in addition to the core town of Kirchlinteln. The district of Bessern, south of the Verden-Walsrode road, also belongs to Luttum.

history

First mention

The first known documentary mention of Luttum is a copy of the document in the Verden Kopiar. The original document dates from 1274 and named Luttum as "Lutten" at that time. The certificate describes the transfer of half a tithe in the village of “Lutten” from Count Helmold von Schwerin to the Verden church in order to “increase” the service.

Modern

Until the regional reform , which came into force on July 1, 1972, Luttum was an independent municipality . Today it belongs to the Kirchlinteln community together with 16 other localities.

Regular events

  • For generations, village youth have been gathering in the center of the village to play bat on Good Friday.
  • The shooting festival of the Luttum shooting club is held annually on Ascension Day and on the Friday immediately following.
  • A Pentecostal custom that has survived to this day is the setting up of freshly felled birch trees (maypoles) on the front doors of the houses.
  • The harvest festival, formerly also called harvest beer , is one of the oldest village community festivals in Luttum.
