The first school in Kleinnaundorf was set up in 1831 in a residential building at the driveway to Glockenplatz in order to save the local children the long and arduous journey to school in Coschütz in winter . The building was badly damaged in the major fire of March 18, 1834. With the increase in the number of pupils caused by the onset of mining, a new school building had to be built in 1868, which soon no longer had the required capacity, as pupils from Neubannewitz also attended the Kleinnaundorf school. So the community decided to build a new school, which was inaugurated in 1893 (the local administration moved into the old school building). Originally planned with two floors , a third floor was added during construction. This is where the auditorium is located, which was also used as a prayer room. With U. a. Equipped with central heating, it was considered the best school building in the school inspection district at the time and served as a reference building for many other new school buildings of the time. The physical education had to be carried out in the inn on Steigerstrasse due to a lack of possibilities, until later the gymnastics club "Carola" built a gym in the immediate vicinity. Since 1906 housekeeping has only been taught to the girls . In 1941 reliefs were created at the entrance . In the assembly hall there has been the motif of unity since 1950 , a large wall painting typical of the GDR , showing workers , farmers and Thälmann pioneers. It was created by Gottfried Bammes . The building was used continuously for teaching until 2002 .

As the number of pupils continued to decline, the school had to close at the end of the 2001/2002 school year due to the requirements of the Ministry of Culture . Since then, the building has been used by the site as a community center. The local council also meets here and the home exhibition is in the auditorium, making it an integral part of community life. After the G-House on the other side of the street was demolished, the “Wurzelzwerge” kindergarten moved in here until it moved to a new building on Meßweg in January 2014.

From 2015 to 2018 the building served as an alternative location for the Wurgwitz elementary school . The partial renovation of the Kleinnaundorf location that became necessary for the outsourcing cost around € 260,000. At the beginning of the 2018/19 school year, the school building will be used by the newly founded Wilsdruffer Gymnasium, which is still under construction at the actual location, as an alternative location for the fifth grade.
