Schulschiff Rhein (proper spelling: "Schulschiff RHEIN") is the name of a training and further education facility for the inland shipping industry in the city port of Duisburg-Homberg that has existed since 1948 . It is a floating facility that serves as a boarding and educational facility for the crew members in inland shipping . The operator is the Federal Association of German Inland Shipping , the trade association for freight and passenger shipping in Germany. As a municipal school of the upper secondary level, the school authority is the city of Duisburg.

The provision of the first two school ships (school ships Rhine I and Rhine II ) by the inland shipping industry in the 1950s created the basis for the establishment of a vocational school for the training of young inland navigation operators. The practical training on board a moving ship should be supplemented by imparting theoretical content. In 1984 the currently used successor, the RHEIN II training ship , was put into service; it was financed and rebuilt by the employers' association.
